A rustic country DIY wedding with a tartan dress

I’m pleased to share these images from Laura’s rustic country wedding in early February.    Laura incorporated the family tartan into her dress with a Rosemary and Thistle flower crown to complement her beautiful hairstyle by Mon Amie Wedding Hair. Laura and her bridal party got ready at Askham Cottages in Cropwell Butler which was a lovely relaxed morning with her family present.   It was a beautiful sunny but crisp day, perfect for this wedding.  The reception was held at the local village hall which Laura decorated herself.

Laura’s dress was definitely not your traditional bridal gown but I love that she went for her family tartan and topped off the outfit with a gorgeous fur shawl.  There was a heartstopping moment when it came to getting into the dress, as the shirt part got stuck halfway down Laura’s face but we managed to sort it out with minimal disruption to the hair and makeup!

I used a variety of products to create Laura’s look.    Her flawless base was created using Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation with Mac Mineralize Skinfinish on top.    Eyeshadows and blush were by Charlotte Tilbury, as was the lipgloss in Portobello Girl.   Ardell half lashes were applied to give Laura’s eyes a full look.

I love the finished look and am grateful to the photographer, BonBon Photography for the beautiful images.
