January Round Up

It’s hard to believe that we’re into February already, time just seems to be flying by.   I had a very busy January with three beautiful weddings, many trials for new 2015 brides and a couple of shoots, plus the annual kit re-stocking of new products.   January kicked off with the first wedding of the year at Stapleford Park for gorgeous bride Rachel.   I love Stapleford just for the grandness of it all and the staff are always lovely and helpful.   The bridal suite is a great room to get ready in too, with perfect natural light (I’m so fussy about my lighting!).  Rachel looked stunning in her gown and I will share some professional pictures when I receive them.

My second January bride was Chloe who chose Hodsock Priory for her wedding.   Chloe got ready at her family home in Sherwood and I had serious house envy after spending time there!  Chloe chose a soft vintage look for her makeup with a beautiful updo by my friend and talented hairstylist Mon Amie Wedding Hair.

My final January bride was a last minute booking, I only did the trial four days before the wedding.   Helen got married at Woodborough Hall and had a gorgeous heavily beaded gown, reminiscent of Jenny Packham.   There was a little frost on the ground that day and everything looked really pretty.

New bookings have been absolutely crazy this month and I could barely keep up with the number of enquiries coming in.  As usual each year, I am being asked for a lot of the same dates and if you’re getting married in Summer 2016, please don’t leave it too late to contact me.

On the non-bridal front, I worked on a shoot with photographer Gina Dover-Jaques.   The theme was the Nutcracker ballet, think lots of tulle, military jackets and ethereal styling.  I also got to work with Follyhouse Photography on a colourful shoot for designer Louise O’Mahoney.   Louise’s designs are a riot of colour with stunning trims.  Throw in a couple of oversized helium balloons, some fabulous Russian Princess style makeup and hair by Helen Sutcliffe and we got some amazing images.    I have popped a couple of behind the scenes shots into the collage as I don’t have the final images yet.

On the new product front, I’m loving the new primers from Make Up For Ever, particularly the hydrating and mattifying ones and these have found their way into my kit.  I also fell in love with some great brushes from Zoeva and have bought a couple of sets. I’m really impressed with them so far.

Finally, I received an exciting email from a leading bridal magazine and have done some work for that, but I will have to wait until June to see that result (stamps foot impatiently!).

I’m working almost every day in February and I’m looking forward to meeting more 2015 brides for their trials.

Happy February everyone 🙂
